Nayot neighborhood was the first housing project in south-centeral Jerusalem, built by Anglo-Saxon olim from U.S and Canada. The neighborhood is constructed with long two flour buildings and the name Nayot was taken from the biblical name Nave.
Nayot is located near Givat Ram and Emek haMatzleva between the neighborhoods Rehavia, Rasko, Givat Mordrchai and Neve Shaanan.
One of the most identified sights with Nayot is the botanical gardens. You can find in the neighborhood department stores, a gas station, coffee shops and restaurants. The facilities of the scouts and bnei Akiva are located on its far end by Emek HaMatzleva. There is also a wide playground called Gan Nayot as well as the Efron dance center.
Neve Shanan is a small neighborhood in central Jerusalem, Located near Nayot, between Israel museum and Givat Ran campus. The neighborhood was first built in 1925 by an orthodox group who bought a rocky ground hill (today Israel museum) outside of the urban development of Jerusalem. They built modest homes on it and later on homes were built in the valley where the neighborhood is located today. During the Israeli independent war, the neighborhood was used as a base for the division of Harel Brigade on their way to conquer San Simon and Katamon neighborhood.
There is quiet a selection of museums at the boundaries of Neve Shahnan: Israel museum, Bible lands museum, heichal Hasefer, Science museum, the stadium and sports facilities of Givat Ram and Rabin guest house.
Today there is an increase in building new homes in the area between Nayot and Neve Shanan and it brings young families back to both neighborhoods.
